We went for a picnic lunch at Saudé Creek Vineyards (Lanexa,
VA) to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It is a new-ish winery off 64 towards
Williamsburg. Not a bad drive (unless the President is coming to town and they
decide to literally close the highway, but that is another story).
This winery is absolutely beautiful. Their wrap around porch
was perfect for hanging out on a semi-rainy day. Once the fog cleared you could
see the Pamunkey River.
The tasting was $7 and the wine was good. They had wine
available by the glass and by the bottle. I had a glass of their Merlot and
then helped Evan split a bottle of Vidal Blanc.
We snacked and drank and enjoyed the company of good people.
That is what good Saturdays are made of.
