Do you think that the wait staff at Joe’s Inn (205 N Shields Ave) hates happy
hour? That place is packed every day from 3pm to 6pm with people who are not
spending much considering the amazing deal that is their happy hour special,
$2.50 drafts from an insane draft list and $2 highballs and $3 house wines. If
you haven’t been there, imagine swarms of people all drinking a $10 tab and
then on their way.
It might be a bummer for a server and a battle for a table,
but Joe’s Inn is a gem. Last week, we made our appearance and it seemed like
everyone there knew each other. That was probably because they do. People who
go to Joe’s, go to Joe’s. It is everything a neighborhood spot should be.
It was our lucky day and we were able to get a table to
enjoy our happy hour beers. Bell’s Two Hearted Ale for me and Hardywood Park
Singel for Evan. We each had two beers and a tab of $10 total.
I felt bad for taking up a table for an hour for just $10
worth of beers, so we decided to order the Chicken Parmesan to go. So instead
of a $10 tab it was $22. Not much better, but at least it was something.
Ordering that chicken parm was one of the best decisions I have made in a long
time. We ended up splitting the entrée for dinner and I still had some leftover
for breakfast the next morning. I love me some Joe’s.
