cinebistro

Getting drunk at a movie theater is not just for teenagers anymore. And no, you don’t have to bring a flask in your bag.

Where is this magical place where you can openly booze it while enjoying a flick on the big screen? That place would be Cinebistro and it is in the Stony Point Mall in good ole RVA.

By what I can only explain as a clerical error, I got invited to a press event at this glorious place and got to take Evan, too. We wined and dined and yes, I got drunk in a movie theater.

Luckily for everyone around us, we were not watching an actual movie. We were there for a screening of previews for all the movies coming out this holiday. Watching the previews is one of my favorite parts of going to the movies and this was made even better by multiple glasses of Cabernet.

Drinking and movie watching is not without its downsides. Luckily they do make some preparations to prevent from drunken movie catastrophes  They serve you in acrylic (read: non break-able) stemware. They designed the theater with huge aisles so if you fall it won’t be in the row in front of you. And, they put in big comfy seats, so if you do pass out, you won't be drooling on your neighbor. But no amount of pre-planning with prevent you from the following:

1) Laughing too loud at things that are probably not as funny when you don’t have a buzz

2) Spilling even more popcorn than the average non-drinking movie goer

3) Meeting other fantastically fun bloggers who order vodka drinks like they are going out of style

Obviously that last one is a bonus, not a detriment. Evan said that this was the most fun “one of these things” that I had ever dragged him to. Cheers to drinking at the movies!

    1. I would definitely recommend going for a fun date night. I heard that for Lincoln they are making their staff dress in period costumes.
