on the rox bar and grille

I am going to make a bold statement here…On the Rox has the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever had. (Technically it is a Panini, but same difference, unless you are the panini police, in which case you should probably stop reading right now.)

I know what you are thinking, “Wha???? How is this possible? Isn’t that place, a bar across from Tiki Bobs in the Bottom?”

The answer I don’t really know what is up with this. I imagined that On the Rox (119 N 18th St) opened to take the over flow twenty-onesies crowd who were done throwing up in the bathroom at Tikis and wanted a new bathroom to throw up in just before making out with a random and drunk driving their parents car back to campus or the burbs or where ever they came from.

Apparently they also opened to serve amazing chicken salad sandwiches. I am just as surprised as you are. Word on the street is that their chef is actually a culinary bad ass.

Let me be perfectly honest, I haven’t had a ton of chicken salad sandwiches in my life because until last year I had a fear of mayonnaise. I don’t really know where this fear came from, but it was just something that I lived with for 29 years. I didn’t like the smell mayonnaise and had no idea that it tastes way more amazing than it smells and that I was missing out on one amazing condiment. I am still recovering.

If my lack of experience with mayonnaise is your reason for not believing that they have an amazing chicken salad sandwich at On the Rox, I challenge you to do your own research. It has craisins and pistachios in it. HELLO, this sandwich is not joke!

They offer a sick happy hour, every day of the week where everything (except for entrées) are half off from 3 to 7. It is pretty ridiculous, kind of like that chicken salad sandwich.
